XHTML
XHTML stands for Extensible Hypertext Markup Language. It is a markup language that allows for many of the functions of HTML, but it is also consistent with XML. XHTML was developed primarily because computers are no longer the only devices that allow Internet access. Telephones, handheld devices, and other pieces of equipment now have Web browsers. Using XHTML now will help developers learn to work with XML but still retain the reliability of HTML in their documents. If your business is considered any sort of Web development, it may be beneficial to use XHTML now so that you do not have to redesign the entire application when XHTML becomes the standard.
